Once Upon a Time Child Care Center retains a highly trained and dedicated staff of professional teachers. Teachers often have, at a minimum, a CDA with an emphasis in early childhood education or closely related field and prior teaching experience. Teachesr pursuing a CDA are placed in the classroom as Assistant Teachers, student teachers or interns working under the guidance of the lead teacher and the Center Director. Substitutes and floating staff maintain required levels of coursework hours and teaching experience.

Employment Oppurtunities

"Floater" Position

Floating teachers move through the building during the day assisting both Lead and Assistant Teachers with activities, providing break opportunities for teachers, filling in when teachers leave for appointments, help in handling special projects, etc.  While working with children, the floaters will be responsible for assisting in the teaching and supervision of children. Qualifications include:   A positive and enthusiastic attitude!  A love for children and a passion to watch them grow.  A great work ethic.  Teachers will be expected to “get down on the floor” to interact with and teach children.  Must be 18 years old, a high school graduate and have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 40 hours training in early childhood education.  Prior teaching experience is desirable.  Teachers of children under two years of age must have at least 10 hours of training in infant/toddler care.  Criminal background checks will be performed on each applicant. 

Lead Teacher Position

Once Upon a Time is a energetic, family focused, environmentally friendly center.  We seek teachers with a environmental interest or philosophy.  Lead Teachers are responsible for the care and education of a group of children including curriculum & program development, teaching, supervision, parent communication and for supporting the training and development of support staff including Assistant Teachers, Student Teachers and Interns.  Lead teachers are directly responsible to the Center Director. Qualifications include:  A positive and enthusiastic attitude!  A love for children and a passion to watch them grow.  A great work ethic.  Teachers will be expected to “get down on the floor” to interact with and teach children. We are seeking teachers with a minimum of a CDA, a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.  Certification and prior experience working with preschool age children in a group/school setting preferred.  Teachers of children under two years of age must have at least 10 hours of training in infant/toddler care including SIDS training.  Criminal background checks will be performed on each applicant.  Excellent salary ranges offered.

Assistant Teacher Position

Assistant Teachers implement a program of activities under the supervision of the Lead Teacher.  The Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in program development, teaching, supervision of children, parent communications and upkeep and management of the classroom. Qualifications include:   A positive and enthusiastic attitude!  A love for children and a passion to watch them grow.  A great work ethic.  Teachers will be expected to “get down on the floor” to interact with and teach children.  Must be 18 years old, a high school graduate and have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 40 hours training in early childhood education.  An CDA, Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.  Prior teaching experience is desirable.  Teachers of children under two years of age must have at least 10 hours of training in infant/toddler care.  Criminal background checks will be performed on each applicant.
